An Austin Landmark
A draft of the market's new promotional video is now available on YouTube. It features walk-throughs, artist's at work, music and a 'broom-casting' demonstration by Michiel Rushing.
Special Event: Maker Faire
October 20 & 21 The Artist's Market will be setting up with Maker Faire at the Travis County Expo Center. This two-day event will allow our artists to do some extra setup for demonstrations & more. Visitors will also have the opportunity to see other 'makers' and participate in several activities.
Directors View: Engaging Visitors
As the market continues to evolve, one of the ways we'd like to stand apart is in 'engaging visitors'. We encourage artists to work on their craft and tell the 'story' behind each piece. Our goal is to allow people to 'experience the art'.
Kathy Sahagian has recently carried this further by introducing activities such as the 'Art Log' (right) where patrons can come in and draw, paint, make a collage etc. as part of a visitors art album for the market.
